The 43rd Rose Bowl held January 1 1957 pitted Big 10 champion Iowa Hawkeyes versus Pacific 10 champion Oregon State Beavers. Iowa won 35-19 and the victory marked the first Rose Bowl championship for Iowa. Hawkeyes quarterback Ken Ploen who passed for a touchdown and ran for another was named the Player of the Game.
